Google announced today that it will acquire Panoramio, a Spanish community site that links photos with the geographic location at which they were taken, viewable in Google Earth and Google Maps. Other users can also add metadata to photos posted to the site. Google has been using Panoramio data in a default layer in Google Earth since the beginning of the year, and will continue to do so. It will also incorporate the technology into its other mapping products.

" Check out Don Dodge's recent article, entitled 'Why 1% of search market share is worth over $1 Billion'. His math concludes that each search query produces $0.12 ad revenue, which gives a value of $1B for just 1% of total search market share. Don is from Microsoft and this post was a response to the latest ComScore search market share numbers, showing that Google increased its market share lead to about 50%. Yahoo has about 27%, Microsoft 10%, AOL 5%, and Ask.com has 5%. So let's look closer at the numbers...

" SAN FRANCISCO — What do Beanie Babies, Pez Dispensers and troubled Internet companies have in common? They're all for sale on eBay. More than 10 dot-coms have recently sought buyers on the popular auction site. Search engine DigForIt.com sold for $25,400 this month after promising bidders "great revenue potential." SynapseLife, an online calendar and organizational site, sold for $60,000 despite warning it had "no advertising revenue."
Corporate acquisitions are usually handled by investment bankers or merger experts. EBay is best known for consumer goods. Still, entrepreneurs are turning there because deals are simple, fast and cheap. "On eBay, you have it closed within a month," says SynapseLife co-founder Mark Michael. "

" According to Comscore, Bebo today is about as big as Facebook was in May 06. Based on fairly aggresive growth estimates, Yahoo valued Facebook for as much as $1.6 billion at that time or a little later. If Bebo sold for $1 billion today, the buyer would be paying around $73/unique visitor, which is certainly in the range of acceptable. "
Thats what Michael Harrington of Techcrunch says but do any of you guy feel that 73/$ just for someone passing by is a good price ?

" Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures noted, to the dismay of some of his older readers, that almost all the entrepreneurs he'd backed were in their thirties. Steven Levy, in his feature this week on young entrepreneurs, has a still harsher summary of Silicon Valley's current wisdom: don't fund anyone over 30. So, cult of youth, or rational response of venture capitalists to observed outcomes "
